    I've tried to watch shows made for little girls (other than My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic), but in general shows made for children that don't attempt to attract a wider audience... kind of suck.

    @inkblot: Also, because it is a fad. Popular opinion has a reassuring subconscious effect, even if only within a specific group.

    Somewhat related to this topic, I find myself more forgiving of stupidity in children's works like most children's cartoons where I would not in a more "adult" work such as Torchwood.

    I just don't understand the appeal. I watched the first five episode, and it was just.... not stupid, not average, but boring.

    Like, there was nothing to engage me. No dilemmas, no problems you need to really strive to overcome. It was just...

    I hate to say it, but it really is a kid's show. Not even so much a little girl's show, but a show that little kids would see the appeal in.

    And I'm just not interested in it.

    Which is one reason I hate pony derails.

    I may be a girl, but that doesn't mean cutesy things automatically appeal to me.

    And ponies that are really just humans in everything but physical appearance do not appeal to me, at all.

    Thus begins a season-long deconstruction of action movies, children's television and the very medium of animation and a serious look into warfare, the ramifications of nuclear proliferation, the relationship between the characters and the viewer and the loss of innocence that comes with obtaining a "cutie mark".
