  • Are you sure this was one of the places you were pretending in? As far back as I remember you were open about being from the Philippines.

As far my associations with the Philippines it's... neutral I guess? The first thing that comes to my mind is being the country composed of lots of islands. Poor for sure, but so is the majority of the world, there were also the Duterte news back when that was current, it's also one of the few countries outside Latin America/Spain with a significant proportion of native Spanish speakers, also lumpias are quite popular in Venezuela... as Chinese food, but ehh, even with misattribution I'd still count it as a positive Philippines cultural thing.

We only started interacting on HH, after I had decided to drop the facade entirely - because at that point, I was no longer a minor.

    Perpetually Peckish
To be honest, my only real impression of the Philippines was that that was where Kinkajou and Mapi-chan (as well as a few non-TvT-related friends) were from so fairly positive overall. Well, that and everyone loves Voltes V there.

On the other hand, I don't think I would have had a negative impression of Americans back when you were pretending to be one (not that we'd have interacted back then since I was gone for years, ahaha) but I'm fairly certain I've picked up an overall negative impression of them by now.

Recently we've had like a meet-up with business folks to tell students how to set up a startup, how to work at one, so on. I've got this feeling it might've been interesting, were I in a more businesslike mindset, because a part of it had some overall merit like "you need to set up goals if you wanna achieve something and gotta work to reach these goals". Fair enough, if you ask me.

    But.

I mean, howevermuch I'd like to pin the blame on all the lefte shizzle I've been reading, I'm pretty sure I didn't need it to get riled up. The moment I lost all interest was when they chose to make a point about productivity by calculating costs on the employer's end. I'm like, come on. I get that the intention was to show a newly founded startup is going to reward the hardworkers first, but you're not gonna make me in on it by showing how the boss ain't gonna buy the second Mercedes this year if everyone leaves office after only eight hours. Sheesh.

Awww, there was a big earthquake in northern Venezuela (not here), with several buildings collapsed and presumably dead people. I'm guessing it's the earthquake that hits Caracas every sixty years or so that was overdue.

Edit: And Japan too, hopefully not nearly as bad, their buildings are much more apt for handling earthquakes than ours after all.
