I first heard of this in the game The Island of Dr. Brain, which features an art-recognition activity. Dalí is one of the featured artists, alongside Picasso, Pollock, Kandinsky, O'Keefe, and Van Gogh.

    It's ultimately still based on a conception of medieval Europe with particular emphasis on the aristocracy. Even the dudes tend to look white. And not just in a "anime characters are usually light-skinned" way.
