Devastated by the unexpected death of his best friend, Tails ineffectually copes with his anxiety and grief (and attempt to stop 9/11) even as his entourage and inner psyche rush to reconfort him. Eventually, his world - and perhaps even reality itself - starts to crumble. However, no plot summary can do justice to the thematic depth, gorgeous art and sublime orchestral soundtrack of what will surely become a revered pioneer - you have to watch it infull to appreciate it. Ryan Dell truly is The One.

"Tip-tap crackerjack, Love is like candy. Too much candy though is bad for your teeth!" I am not sure what kind of message that is supposed to send to kids, but it did appear in the Australian version of the third Cardcaptor Sakura ending. I guess that is only mildly relevant though.

Is the last part even true though? Maybe I am overestimating people a bit, but I feel like the idea that the media brainwashes people assumes a lot. For example, I have heard that for many issues, people kind of have to pay pretty close attention and have no strong views from the start in order to be manipulated by the media. I do not know that the "masses" really usually fit into either category. That being said, I definitely do not disagree that the media is powerful and I am no expert on how much it affects people's mindsets. I imagine that would be pretty tough to measure.

The Media has managed to convince people that a multi-ethnic, multi-generational group of people discontented with the state of things is a bunch of selfish white kids and has convinced people to feel like billionaires are persecuted. Just sayin'.

"For example, I have heard that for many issues, people kind of have to pay pretty close attention and have no strong views from the start in order to be manipulated by the media. I do not know that the "masses" really usually fit into either category." Thing is, media tends to be insidious. Advertisers in particular are masters at planting subconscious messages into people's brains, indoctrinating them into the consumer culture we have today by subtly associating products with respect and happiness and all those good things in life, by convincing people to define their very identities with brand labels, and I could go on and on. Really, it's precisely not paying close attention that lets those messages creep into your brain. And as for not having strong views, well, let's just say most people don't start off with a massive hate-on for corporations.

Malkavian, Maybe the media has convinced some people to feel that way, but I am a bit skeptical about whether it has manipulated or brainwashed people to see things like that. I also feel like the media is not just one monolithic entity (not that I think you believe that) and that just because something is reported by say the mainstream U.S. TV networks does not mean the "masses" will necessarily believe it. Abyss_Worm, I think you make a good point about media being insidious. Still, I wonder if people really are as gullible as you seem to describe them as being. I hope I am not pushing the point here too much since I certainly do not believe you are totally wrong here, but I feel like plenty of people are pretty cautious when it comes to ads, especially political ones.

As if in commemoration of Sonic the Hedgehog’s 20th birthday, the ghost-like ice-cream truck that wanders Emeryville glided by my front door the other day. My spirit brother and Insert Credit Dot Com Intern Zak “Delicious” McCune ran out like the child he is at heart. “I wonder if they have those Sonic heads with the gumball eyeballs,” he was saying. “I’ve been hungry for one of those for five years now.” Delicious got his wish. They had the Sonic head ice cream. “Sonic!” he exclaimed. “I want a Sonic.” He put down two dollars. “Sonic’s the shit,” the ice-cream-truck-driver said. “The gumball eyeballs are green now instead of black,” he said, looking at it. He ate it. “It still tastes the same.” (Credit goes to insertcredit.com: http://insertcredit.com/2011/06/23/happy-20th-birthday-sonic-the-hedgehog/)

Thanks for linking to that story. I have to agree with that guy too. I may have only eaten that Sonic gumball eyeball stuff once, but I know I liked it. Also, I think the fact that Sonic's eye color actually "matters" is kind of silly. Yet, I would classify it as actually sort of funny silly rather than annoying silly.
