Does anyone else miss these cans?  They're usually made with pull-open lids these days...

edit: I'm an idiot; how did I put this in webspace by accident

  • "you duck spawn, refined creature, you try to be cynical, yokel, but all that comes out of it is that you're a dunce!!!!! you duck plug!"
    Heh heh, "meat"-space.

    No,
but I must be a more avid "buy useless home shopping things" person than you
because I have one of those electric can opener things and I will use it
    whenever possible.

I My mom used to have one of those things, with a cord that could be stored in a convenient little compartment at the base of the unit.  I thought it was a cool thing when I was a little kid.

I also have had a couple can openers break on me.  One is a ten or twenty year old but really good can opener that slices the sides of the can lids open in such a way that's actually much safer to handle, but it finally wore out.  the other is a cheapo opener from a dollar store that wore itself out in the course of months.  But these are more recent.

But hey, if those cans came with keys I wouldn't have to open them like that.

I miss the key-opened ham cans.

I think they still make key-opened luncheon meat cans in some parts of Asia.
