I agree with you completely, though I'm not quite sure who you're talking about here. I don't think "pioneer of modern computer programming" describes either Ada Lovelace or Grace Hopper very well?
Yeah, in retrospect, that was poorly worded. I was thinking "modern" as in around Victorian-era onward.
That was my first thought but then I was like, "wait what computer programming was there before that".
